Errors on Shield Nickels
This website is devoted to shield nickel varieties, but I thought it would be fun to add a page about shield nickel errors. Shield nickel errors are quite rare. For those of you who may wonder what the difference between an error and a variety is, the way I distinguish them is this:

Varieties are features of a die. A variety will appear on every coin struck from that die.

Errors occur as a coin is struck. Every error is a unique occurrence specific to a particular struck coin.
